Surgery Postponed (June 2015)

Unfortunately Sydney's surgery was postponed. She should have had the amputation done on the 18th of June, but she got sick and we had to postpone it. What are the odds?! We haven't been sick since February or something crazy like that and we all came down with the plague (Ok, not really the plague.. just bad coughs, lame sore throats and fevers etc..) the 2 weeks before her surgery date?! Oh well, we'll just be EXTRA prepared when it finally does happen. Her surgery is now scheduled for July 1st. I can't wait to get it over with and be on the other side of all this! Praying that she doesn't get sick again and we can keep this date.:)

My (Mom's) Thoughts / Feelings Leading Up to the surgery (June 2015)

I get asked a lot if I am worried about how things are going to go and a few other questions like that. I thought I would share some of my thoughts and feelings leading up to the surgery. It is only a week and 1 day away now.
Yes, I worry. I worry just a little about the actual surgery, just because anytime anyone goes into surgery anything can happen. These are the things I try to do when I start to think about it: (a) I think about the fact she would have had to have more surgeries had we gone the lengthening route and that helps me to feel better, and (b) I just try to not think about it. It's like having a baby.. You know that the delivery day will come, but it's going to come no matter what, so why worry about it?! That only makes the situation more stressful and doesn't actually accomplish anything.

Last Hurrah! Bear Lake Trip (May 2015)

For Memorial Day weekend we took a little family trip out to Bear Lake. We specifically chose a beach-y location because we had heard that the beach/sand can be a little challenging for kids with their prosthetic. The trip was fabulous and so relaxing. It was also cloudy and rainy the entire time.. Not really ideal for a lake vacation, but we still had a blast! The condo we stayed at had an indoor pool and so all was well.:)
